Stephen Scordias

Artist & Photographer - Owner of ScorART

Co-Curator, Consultant, & Resident Artist at Mooneyham Art

Member & Gallery Artist at Little Egypt Art Association

Stephen Scordias is an award-winning multidisciplinary artist, curator, juror, and founder of ScorART whose practice spans photography, painting, and illustration. Born and raised in the St. Louis area, his work is rooted in the belief that creativity flourishes through multiple voices and multiple mediums. While recurring themes of nature, family, and the human experience appear throughout his portfolio, his work ultimately defies strict categorization, exploring a broad range of ideas, techniques, and perspectives.

Stephen began exhibiting photography throughout the Greater St. Louis region as a teenager and continued actively showing his work into his twenties. Although he later shifted his focus to commissioned work and personal projects, he remained engaged in the arts while building a 20-year career in higher education administration and consulting with K–12 educational leaders. In January 2024, he left that profession to dedicate himself fully to his creative practice and to strengthening the arts community.

Today, Stephen's work extends beyond the studio to include curating exhibitions, producing community arts initiatives, and serving as a juror for regional organizations and events. In 2025, he co-produced the inaugural Alton Art Expo, a community-centered event that brought together art, wellness, and community while raising funds to support Centerstone's mental health outreach. He continues to serve as co-producer of the Alton Art Expo, helping expand its mission of connecting artists, community, and wellness. He serves as co-curator of Mooneyham Art Gallery in Alton, Illinois, and is a member of the Little Egypt Arts Association in Marion, Illinois, where he is also a gallery artist.

Drawing on his academic background in psychology and communications, along with professional experience in leadership development, organizational culture, counseling, project management, and DEIA, Stephen approaches the arts as both a creative practice and a catalyst for community connection. He is committed to fostering inclusive artistic spaces, championing multidisciplinary creators, and supporting artists whose work challenges traditional expectations of medium, genre, and singular artistic identity. Whether creating, curating, mentoring, or organizing, he believes art has the power to inspire dialogue, strengthen communities, and create lasting connections.
